article Beards, Breasts, And Bodies Doing Sex in A Gendered World, at
the outset distinguishes between the concepts of sex and gender. The article
discusses how in the real world we fail to identify differences between sex and
gender and more often than not we use the terms sex and gender interchangeably.
The author highlights how gender becomes very significant when a person's way of behaving conflates with the stereotype of
their given sex. These two inextricably linked social constructs gravely
impact the sexuality of a person. Both these highly interlinked constructs
deeply affect a person’s sexuality. The binary notion of gender is so pervasive
that it impacts everyone and blatantly ignores the existence of transgenders and
their need for social acceptance.
The authors Aniruddha
Dutta and Raina Roy in their article Decolonizing Transgender in India Some
Reflections consider and criticize the treatment meted out to transgenders.
Further, they bring to everyone’s attention that it is only recently that
people identify more than two sexes, otherwise all other gender-based identities
were put into one word called transgenders. The word transgender used to consist
of persons from the LGBTQIA+ community regardless of whether they were actually
men or women. Other factors such as the class of a person also is an important factor
in determining their given sex. Overall, the article goes into the larger
problems faced by transgenders in India
