Raine Dozier’s text “Beards, Breasts, And Bodies Doing Sex in a Gendered World” throws light on the complex connection between sex and gender. It tries to establish a link between the two while also explaining how the two are extremely socially constructed subjects and are also very different and distinctive in nature. The author puts forward the point that trans-sexuality is represented by certain individuals and is independent of any kind of social interaction. Transgenders are often treated very differently in our society and hence they feel the need to retreat to methods that would make them look the way they want to be perceived and seen as. This can lead to a very problematic and toxic thread which can ultimately stop them from being themselves wholly. While Dozier’s focusing on sex, gender and sexuality, Susan Stryker in her article “Transgender Feminism – Queering the Woman Question” describes the utmost significance of looking at the matter of feminism through the lens of the transgender. According to her, all the feminist theories that are present in today’s scenario can obtain a lot if they try to understand the transgender movements in a much more detailed manner. The problem of always discerning gender in two binaries is something that is not only restricted to the transgenders but is also a situation of difficulty for the others. By trying to understand their convolution, maybe we can better comprehend the fluidity of different sexual orientations and break free from the typical and archaic gender stereotypes that exist in our society.
