Sonal Sharma in her article talks about the segregation between employers and employees, between pure and impure, between clean and unclean household work. She does so by giving an example of domestic workers in Delhi. It talks about how a certain area of domestic work like “rasoi ka kaam” comes higher in the hierarchy when compared to “bathroom ka kaam”. How a Hindu worker working for a Muslim family is considered impure. The employees have themselves created a hierarchy in terms of domestic work. Progressive systems of rank are along these lines present between laborers too. Laborers higher in the order don't care for performing little and 'filthy' undertakings, for instance just the most minimal positions play out crafted by cleaning toilets. These assignments get implanted and systematized and, in this way,, there is 'task isolation' that is made concerning which position is to play out a particular errand. The writer proceeds to fight that the present foundations for looking at the space of the home and the acts of immaculateness and contamination are not suitable in the occasions we live in and these builds should be redone with the goal that we can have a superior and dynamic comprehension of the ground truth of household work.
