IT WASN’T REALLY REALLY A RAPE: EXPLORING SEXUALITY IN A NEW AGE CAMPUS – Dr. Dalwai & Adv. Marysha
This is a dialogue between two feminists from different generations about how the turf has changed from being protectionist to liberty oriented. However, the battle against patriarchy and power still continues. In these dialogues, the authors talk about the Jindal rape case and how men from influential backgrounds and power usually manage to get themselves rid of any accusations. Furthermore, it is also important to note how despite knowing what criminals had done, they were welcomed in their homes as if they had done nothing wrong and the survivor had to relocate, delete her social media accounts and act like she never existed.
This dialogue also covered many other discussions amongst which one was about how freedom and trust which parents give their daughter needs to be treated as a debt and paid back with gratitude without having misused it. Woman’s bodies are thus not treated as their own since they are not accessible to them and are only limited to the family’s reputation. In addition, the discussion also highlighted the importance of social media in contemporary times especially for movements which were once located on streets.
