The article starts with the author bringing out the problem of women safety in the nation's capital, Delhi and how it is not seen as an issue for "governance that extinguishes the social, economic, and political rights of all women".Pratiksha Baxi discusses and highlights the on going issue of the normalisation of rape culture in India. She further discusses the reasons and factors in the society that often lead to women getting openly harassed in the streets. There are a lot of instances in which, after the women files a complaint against a person in the police station, rather than setting up a proper enquiry as per law, the victim is often burdened with questions. This victim blaming and asking all sorts of inappropriate questions to the victim results in mental torture and lose of faith in justice. The article goes on to criticise the right wing politicians and how the Hindu nationalism is built on violated bodies of women. The article talks about the importance of the role of judiciary and police and criticise the mindset of questioning the girls behaviour, dressing and taking the issue of rape seriously. The solution to this is for the citizens to come together in unity and develop the minds of people and create awareness regarding the issue.
