Addlakha “Sexuality and
Disability”
The foremost dilemma that stands out is that whenever there is a
minority, could be an individual with low sight or no sexual desire, another
one could be a Muslim women, from individuals with negligible power to control
their life to those who are dependent on another to sustain themselves, a
portion of society will find a way to oppress, dehumanize, create problems in
addition to the already existing problems for them.
Addlakha converses
about the sexual needs and wants of disabled women where she states how
disabled people would rather like to have another person as their partner with
the same disability as their own so there is no insecurity of abandoning each
other. She takes on 3 cases of disabled women which covers different stories
yet the same umbrella of elements.

Addlakha stated how
there are several educational and employment
opportunities for persons with disabilities in order to promote economic
self-reliance and independent living yet there is an impending invisibility to
their sexual needs and also states how there is an negative stereotyping of
persons with disabilities as either asexual or sexual perverts in media, films
etc. Then Addlakha talks about four different cases of disabled individuals
going through their personal lives covering the elements mentioned above.
