India has always been country of religious practices which
involves taking care of one not been blessed equally by the god. Such belief and
ideological baggage can be seen even in policy making for disables. The policies
are not focused on empowering the disable rather narrowly limited to their
education and employment. Their several other fields like preferences, sexual
behaviour are still far away from any political discussion. Leading to very
harsh lifestyle for people with disability. Due to lack of their recognition in
the parliament their life mostly revolves in irony of sympathy and harsh
reality. This reality is even worse for the disabled women because a disabled-women
is believed to be a burden on the family forever, and it won’t be viable to
spend limited resources in her development as an individual. Circumstance get
even worse when it comes to mental health. Being a dilemma in Indian society it
rarely ever spoken out even in front of family because of mental health issue
being constantly abbreviated to mentally unsound.
