Chapter 2 – Role of women has always been in subordination in both world as well as Indian history. This structure of subordination is visible in almost every historical event recorded and such feature is conditioned through social conditions prevailing in the region mostly through path of patriarchal structure. Social conditions also prevail through caste and gender, role of caste has been very significant in deriving rights, sexuality and authority of women in Indian society. Endogamy has been a very important part of this structure of women subordination in the strata of society which further helps in keeping the sub castes bounded together. The believe is that every to preserve every sub caste it is important to reproduce within the society. Which brings us to concluding remark that marriage played a very crucial role in subordination of women in the Indian society.
