The Combahee River Collective Statement is a representation of the oppression of black women in a  white society where on one hand black men were suffering at the hands of racism, black women were facing the dual tyranny of racism and casteism. The Afro-American black woman has always been struggling to survive through the slavery, rape, maltreatment and has always attempted to break through the bondages of her gender and colour. And though, white women have suffered gender discrimination to some extent, black women do not have the privilege, the power or the authority like the white women to rely upon and be safe and sound in their environment. In the era of slavery, black women were raped with the purpose of producing more slaves and it is the roots or the foundations like these that have instilled a fear so strong among the hearts of these women that even though a movement has started to rise, not every one comes out or is able to do so for support. A major driving force of this movement comes from the women who write and publish across the world but even those women keep themselves locked in isolated areas, not to be discovered or exposed to the atrocities that black women have been going through ages.
