DOES BOLLYWOOD HAVE A WOMEN PROBLEM? 

A guy was pursuing me and he was friends with my best friend, I had rejected the guy multiple times and he still wouldn't stop pestering me. I asked my best friend 'does he not get it! I am not interested in him' what he said next makes sense now reading this article, he said 'guys feel that girls reject them first a couple of times and then come around in a while and accept them so they need to continue the chase'. 

The content that is shown on the screens affect people's mindsets. Since the cinema is male dominant, all that is shown in the movies is in a way a doorway into the director's and the story writer's head, so seeing how males see women and how women react to their advances in the movie, in a way, makes people, especially young boys believe that that behavior is correct. Women are shown very rarely in a lead role. She is only shown as a romantic getaway in the movie. Item songs are put into movies to make them more 'interesting' since its established that objectifying women gives the crowd kicks. Bollywood needs movies made by strong independent women that show strong female characters. A girl who is not a love sick puppy and a submissive follower of a man, a girl who does not tolerate abusive and dominating behavior because those are the morals our society actually needs to be inculcated in them.
